4 cups All-bran cereal
2 cups boiling water
1 cup shortening
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
4 cups buttermilk
5 cups flour
5 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups 100% Bran cereal
2 heaping cups dates, cut-up

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Soak All-Bran cereal in boiling water for a few minutes. In a very large bowl, combine shortening, sugar, eggs and buttermilk. Add soaked All-Bran, flour, baking soda, salt, and 100% Bran. Blend thoroughly. Add dates. Bake in greased or paper-lined muffin tins for 25 minutes.
