Chocolate Chip and Walnut Muffins

1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) sweet butter, melted, cooled
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup milk chocolate pieces
1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
1/2 cup chopped California walnuts

Preheat the oven to 400° F. Grease or line a 12 cup large muffin tin.

In a large bowl combine the sugars, flour, baking powder and salt. In a medium bowl combine the milk, butter, eggs, and vanilla and blend well.

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add the milk mixture and stir to combine. Add the chocolate pieces and nuts. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups.

Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool the muffins in the pan about 5 minutes.

Remove from the pan and cool on a rack.
